So I was asked to write a song for TINY PLANET’s (K’s and AO)’s new album “VENUS,” and I did just that! It was a dream come true for me because I’ve been a fan of both of them for years, and the entire reason I came to Japan in the first place was to see AO (tophamhatkyo) of FAKE TYPE. He’s a big inspiration to me, so the fact we got to make a song together was literally a dream come true. My song is “Float Along,” it’s the 4th track on the album! You can listen to a clip of it here. My hopes are high that TINY will have their music on Spotify someday. If you like EDM you might really like their stuff! AO and K’s are really incredible musicians and track makers. The definitely deserve more support.

So my last job kinda dicked me after I left. I worked overtime but they only paid me for about half the work I know I did. I calculated the hours, but while I’m on the other side of the country I can’t physically prove they’ve done me wrong (I’ve tried). That paycheck was supposed to pay for my plane ticket to World Wide Words 2017, the biggest Japanese internet rap festival in the world (also probably the only one, lol).
My friends are waiting for me there- they’re expecting me, and I want to go to them. But I can’t without the money. Even working overtime at my NEW job won’t cover it, and I’ve got less than a month. I need some serious help.

This past week was craziness. I went to 5 live shows in Tokyo and got to see so many MCs I’d been wanting to see and meet. I can’t possibly write about everything that happened, so just look out for my comic someday, haha.
Before the DenpaGirl concert, I had come to terms with the fact that I wouldn’t get to meet AO face to face this time, since DPG is so big and none of the MCs are allowed to leave backstage.
But walking on my way to another live venue that was going on before DPG, my friend said to me, jokingly “haha, what if we ran into AO?”
Literally AS she said his name, he appeared from around the corner. I was kinda frozen but I got myself together to politely say hello. It was unreal. It was the type of scenario you tell people about, and there’s no way they’ll believe you. But it happened, I swear to Satan.
We ran into Jinmenusagi on the street, too. I went to one of his midnight shows, and he had them let us in for free. He’s an awesome guy. I hope he comes to America someday.
So much happened. I tried writing about it all, but I’m not even halfway done and I’m several pages in. So just take these pictures and know it really was something, lol.
Today is my official debut as an MC. Rapping is something I’ve always wanted to get into, but for obvious reasons, I was afraid for a very long time. However, due to the past events of this year I decided I literally cannot be assed to hold back anymore.
As Satan’s Rap Dungeon expands and progresses, and as the story of DEMONDICE unfolds over time, I hope you will stick with me as I grow as an artist. N’ all that good shit.
So I don’t know how many people know this already, but Ham and Dyes announced today that FAKE TYPE. is taking an indefinite break.
I have a lot of feelings about this, but I’m just here to report the facts.
Ham’s reasoning for this is that both of them want to focus on their own individual progression as musicians. Dyes believes that FAKE TYPE. has begun to plateau in their work. They tried for a long time to figure out what the best course of action was, and have decided to stop.
This doesn’t mean they won’t come back several years down the line. Until then, they remain my favorite musical group. I will continue to support both AO/Ham and Dyes for pretty much forever, and promote FAKE TYPE’s music in America, despite their ceasing of activities.
I left America for the first time, alone, to go meet them. Because of them, many things happened in my life. Though I’m sad, I am grateful for what they’ve done for me, for my friends. I’m truly happy for what they did. I hope we can meet again, someday.

Even so, I’d love to maybe make a more in-depth tutorial, starting from concepting, to asset creation in SAI and Photoshop, and eventually editing in Adobe After Effects. I’ll heavily consider it for a project over the summer!

DPG Live in Tokyo and Tamaonsen Live in Kagoshima!
I can’t possibly explain everything that happened last week, but here’s a photo summary of one of the craziest weeks of my life…
I initially went to Shibuya again to see DenpaGirl perform live, and AO made a guest performance! The show was wonderful, but I didn’t get a chance to see AO afterward. It was still a great time with my friends though and despite getting in fairly late we were pretty close to the front!
During my time at the DPG live, my friends and I discovered AO and his Tamaonsen (Tohou Hip-Hop Remix Fan-Music Crew) was doing a sale and live performance that Sunday! But I was set to leave back for Hong Kong on Wednesday. Plus, the live show was in Kyushu- the southern island of Japan. I told myself I’d have to skip out on this one…
…Until I missed my flight check in by 2 minutes and they refused to let me on the plane. Budget airlines, man. Thanks to the help of my incredible friends (because ya boy was flat ass broke) I could afford a ticket out of the country on Sunday just before I got back into classes. But because of an incredibly generous gift from one of my dear friends, I was actually able to afford a Shinkansen ticket to Kyushu that Saturday, and a place to stay at a friends house until then. I wondered to myself… Was… Was this supposed to happen…??
Someone, or something out there knew that Kagoshima was where I wanted to go. Where I needed to go… That only seeing DPG had left me feeling unsatisfied. And it was on the 7 hour train there that I discovered none of my Japanese friends were actually going to the live show. Not only that, but I was alone. Me, who speaks very little Japanese, alone on the island of Kyushu, on the southern tip of Japan. I was incredibly nervous.
But I eventually found my way there. The convention was… Smaller than any con I’ve ever been to, even in America. Nothing was in English, but I knew enough Japanese to purchase entry. And then I saw AO and his crew, behind one of the tables, selling their music. I don’t want to ever forget what that felt like. To have traveled so far, to have endured so much (only thanks to the help of those who care about me, of course) and to have gone all that way to a place I was utterly physically alone in, to see AO and support him again. As usual, he greeted me with a wave and a smile. We did our best to communicate with each other, difficult as it was. As usual, him and his crew treated me so nicely, despite the fact I was a shaking nervous wreck lmao but I eventually got comfortable with everyone. And I got to enjoy their live show! I was even allowed to watch them prepare for the performance. It was unreal. And I was right at the very front for that one, too. I’d never seen AO perform so naturally and smile so easily any of the times id seen him perform live before. It may have been because the crowd didn’t break 50 people, and the con was incredibly small. I didn’t get the feeling he was under pressure… He was truly having fun. And so, I had fun too.
No matter what, I don’t regret Kyushu. I made many mistakes on my way there. But I learned so much about myself, about my friends, about what it means to say fuck it sometimes and do what feels right. But also about how scary things can get and the people it affects when you let yourself become irresponsible…
I’m not perfect, and I’m certainly nothing without my friends and the people around me. Though I went alone, and that did take courage, it was only because people had my back. That was something I never expected for some reason.
Whatever the fuck last week in Japan was……. I’m glad it happened.
I recently produced an animated music video for the homie Japanese-American rapper Scott SK Miller and it was a blast. My first professional gig ever, I hope you all enjoy it and share! I think the message is something very relate-able to all of us… I hope you’ll feel it.

Freaking legendary J-Rapper Tophamhatkyo (トップハムハット狂) a.k.a AO turns 28 today and thusly I drew this for him. He’s been my favorite rapper for a year and a half now and I’m constantly just so in awe of how fearless and unique and wonderful his flow is. Even after meeting him in person (twice) this year I still can’t believe this man is real sometimes, he is truly my hero. I wish him endless support and another fantastic year.
I just got back from seeing FAKE TYPE. perform live! The first song of theirs I ever heard was “Nightmare Parade,” and it was also the last song they played at the live (we were dying for an encore, and they delivered so hard) so I decided to jump on the meme boat and made this little thingy here…

Howdy! Karen here. Guess what? I’m going to TOKYO in about a week to see FAKE TYPE. perform live! It’s the first time I’m going to Japan, and also the first time I’m visiting another country on my own… But I’m hype because I worked so hard for this trip, and now it’s finally around the corner!
However, I’ve got a small problem. Although I THINK the performances are free, they’re doing pre-orders for their new album and I guess some exclusive T-shirt deal, and I wanted to see if I could get someone in Japan to assist me with getting this! I can’t call the store from America, nor do I have the proper currency to pay up front, NOR could I properly communicate with my very rudimentary Japanese! Howdy everyone! I’ve got some news in regards to HonkyTonk Hustlers. Unfortunately, Hiveworks decided not to pick up my webcomic. The GOOD news is that it made it to the final selection round, and I’m drawing it anyway. That was a given from the second I concepted this thing. But now, I’m actually really EXCITED to make this happen on my own. I’m good at doing that- things on my own, I mean. Now that the future is a little more clear, I can begin planning. The first thing I’m doing is purchasing my own site for the comic.
Then, I’m going to post the entire prologue at once and the comic itself on Tapastic AND my own website! Next year, once we’ve gained some traction, I’ll try again. But this is now, and I hope you’ll stick with us on this ride.
There’s a reason HtH is being written and TBAFS is being put on indefinite hiatus. I’ve grown as a writer, and the fact that THIS idea made it to the final stages of an incredibly cut-throat selection process gives me motivation like you’d never believe. So let’s get started!!
I did some re-designs for some of the main characters of my mini-comic series, Demon Dice! It’s about demons rapping in hell to buy their souls back from Satan. It’s weird. I hope you’ll read it when it’s ready!

WEBCOMIC STATUS
I’m only a few days away from hearing about the future of HtH- whether it will be published through an online publisher, or whether I’ll be going the self-publishing route online. It’s really just a matter of whether I go with Comixology, or my pitch gets picked up! I’ll know around the 15th. In the meantime, I guess this just means that if it DOESN’T, I’ll release the first issue of the story some time in November. But if it does, it’ll be August when I begin updating weekly!
AVAILABLE LANGUAGES
As of immediately, I’m looking into getting HtH to be available in TWO languages- English, and also Japanese. The reason for wanting to have the story available in Japanese is really a personal one. The story was influenced by Japanese rap, so I figured it’d only be right to have it available in said language! I’m currently looking to hire someone to take the job, but I’m taking my time as it isn’t an immediate concern.

I Need Help from Someone in Japan! (Willing to Pay you for your help!!)

My name’s Karen, and FAKE TYPE. is my favorite music group. They’re located exclusively in Japan, and they’re pretty underground. So underground, in fact, that their newest album FAKE BOOK is only sold in a certain store called “Village Vanguard.” It’s a book/CD store in Japan!
I have tried to get my hands on this album through CDJapan 6 times. The first 4 times, it sold out online before my request could go through. The last 2 times, my payment went through, but the site didn’t order the CD until 2 days later, and by then, it had sold out. It sells out SO FAST online! The only solution I can see here is to ask someone IN JAPAN to go to one of the Village Vanguard stores and acquire this holy grail of an item for me.

After coming back from a very long hiatus, I’ve returned to finish the first chapter of my comic and fully dedicate my time to it. In fact, I’m starting up a Patreon so that I can try to work on it even more! But we’ll save that for another time.

Sigma, a character from my webcomic! He appeared in the most recent update. He works for the government’s special ops dedicated to demon eradication. Because demons manipulate emotion to defeat humans, he was trained to not feel any, and thus, whenever an emotion is triggered, a painful neurotoxin is released through out his body.

Introducing Machina (MAKI-nuh)- Captain of the Data Mages. Not much is known about the Data Mages besides the fact that they’re the government’s secret ops force in regards to dealing with the demons that have infested the internet. Machina herself is a snarky wise-guy who seems to put her ideals in priority over that of the government’s. She’s too good at her job for them to get rid of her, and she’s the only one capable of keeping her partner Sigma in emotional check.

They’re called “FAKE TYPE.” Located in Japan, they’re an Electro-Swing/Jazz Tricky Rap duo (obviously all the rap is in Japanese, but it matters little because they’re style is so focused on the SOUND/FLOW of the rap.) Their sound is spontaneous, unpredictable and overall so, SO fun.
And these guys are largely like. Under the radar. I believe they deserve so much more for the incredible songs they put out. And that’s why I’m sharing this with you!

Their remix album, Fake Jazz, is also on iTunes, but you’ll need a Japanese account to access it (worth it, imo). Another original character of mine, Maddox- the hookah-smoking, gondola riding megane skeleton. He is the Keeper of the Comatose; it is his duty to watch over the sleeping souls who have fallen into a comatose state. He is wise, and helpful. However, he is also highly sarcastic, and is stern in his beliefs that when he is right, he IS right.

His name is Jago. He’s the Prince of Daydreams; a powerful business man who actually uses “approval” as an energy source… That’s right, he literally “thrives on approval.” Some vocal ticks include Capitalizing Some Words ™ and trading marking them Out of Complete Randomness ™. Also the constant use of the phrase “believe you me.”

(love your art!) i downloaded undertale a few days ago and i have just finished the true pacifist ending (after i did the neutral one) and i kind of want to do a genocide run out of curiosity but i honestly dont know if i can bring myself to do it,,,,, everyone is so happy, do you think its worth it?

To be honest, you feeling curious isn’t an accident haha. That’s kind of the point of the genocide run- it’s so meta, really. Playing through the genocide run is definitely a test of your “morality,” in a sense- or rather, how much you care for the characters. You kind of pay the price for wanting to see that side of them- seeing ‘em desperate, and at their worst. The run has 2 of the best boss fights in the game, and some of the best dialogue I have ever seen within the game. But if you think about it…
It’s a bit heartbreaking that these characters that you have helped get a happy ending are put through…. THAT… simply because you were curious. And not to mention, certain characters will… definitely… hold it against you, forever. And it’s irreversible, you can’t ever truly get a pacifist ending again. You can try but it’ll be tainted. No amount of file changing can really change your consciousness on what you’ve done, ya know?
Long story short- it’s up to you. I personally won’t do one, but that’s just because of what the game’s taught me. I’m not perfect- I probably would have done a genocide run if I didn’t know of the consequences… But yeah, in the end, do what you feel is right. And good luck to you! Stay determined!
I’m reaching out to the talented musical composers of tumblr because a project I’m involved in is very much in need of music.
I’m working for a visual novel group called Novel Tea. We’re currently creating the demo of our very first adventure in the Avaria Adventures series- a visual novel called Runeous.
Our story follows the adventures of a young Runic named Leif, as well as the friends he meets along the way through his journey through a war-torn country. There’s a lot I can’t go into detail about right now, as we’re keeping most of it a surprise for the demo, which will be out some time this coming fall.
I am the lead character designer and artist for this visual novel, working alongside the talented background artist Chai (her work is included above) and several other talented individuals in bringing this project to life. The art for said demo is 90% complete, writing and programming 100% complete- the only thing we lack is MUSIC.
It is very difficult to find a good, solid and reliable music composer who is willing to sign on to a project with little to no up-front pay. That’s right- we are planning to start up a kickstarter for this visual novel once the demo is released, but for now, there’s very little we can offer you that probably won’t come out of my own pocket. But I care very, very much about this project as I’ve poured hours of my life into it.

I can give you more information on the project, show you all the work we’ve put into it if you need proof of legitimacy, etc. Send me several examples of your work, how much you regularly charge for tracks (we will need probably about 8-10 loopable tracks, 1:00-2:00 in length. another cosplay update for Satsuki- base dress came in, it’s got no embellishments yet and it needs to be hemmed about 4 inches, and then I’ll have my boots soon to try on with it. Shitty stand-in clips are still being used. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of that shit some time this weekend. Dress also has some dumb ass pads in the chest area cuz it was made for cute little asian girls (the description actually said this) with small boobs that I do not have. I’ll have to get those taken out. Gonna make my own sleeves and the sailor part of the uniform, won’t be a problem.
For now, here’s a look at how the dress looks. I’m gonna wait a little longer to get alterations, as I’m trying to lose a little more weight before then.

Clips will be re-do, with plastic painted with metallic silver to look less cheap. Kind of threw these together just for the pictures! The corset and base dress are on their way, and I just ordered the material to make the boots!

YO CHECK IT so the my current mask design was hella lame and resembled a futuristic fish bowl so I consulted the bad-ass helmet expert for some help with helmet designs and behold, Epsilon actually looks cool. Kinda important for it to look cool, cuz the helmet is what he wears for the entire beginning of the story. It was supposed to be a secret for a long time what he looked like under the helmet, but y’all already know so who really cares. (oh ps dont let his creepy appearance fool you, Epsilon is very sweet and polite to everyone, he just wants to be everyone’s friend. Though he is a bit enigmatic ehuehue)

well i wasn’t sure if i was gon post it but i might as well bc his design isn’t changing for now so ya!!!!! new character and the first antagonist i’ve inserted into yannick and sigma’s world!! Stuff to know about the new guy:
-His name is Zeta
-He’s in the same program as Sigma but is considered an “upgraded version," as the only emotions illegal for him to feel are fear and compassion. Tests were run to determine that these were the only emotions necessary to be eliminated to get the job done. Therefore, he is sent out to replace Sigma on his mission.
-He connects to a robot that he can either pilot, or control to fight alongside him (BRB TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW DRAW ROBOTS)
-He is absolutely insane
-Fighting style includes robot, throwing knives and kicking you in the face
-He sucks

here is the thing ive been working on. ive never animated anything and i know its got a lot of flaws but i really wanna make more of these. i referenced ragna the bloodedge’s fighting style while working on it, i love the way he throws his punches. u___u

i was digging deep into my gallery and about a year ago i had designed myself as my own superhero under some kind of 3d glasses theme and i kinda wish i had actually done something with it
(ME: HAHAHAHA IM GONNA MAKE A ROBOT CHARACTER IM GONNA oops its just an android and its too complicated BUT I DID MY BEST ive had him and his story in my head since the new studio killers album anyway ill line and color maybe if i feel these out more he’s got like white hair and gold and blue colors and stuff and idk he’s very much a work in progress but hey at least i drew an almost robot like character)

I’m in a bit of a situation… It’s not a bad one! It’s actually very exciting… I am getting an artist alley table at AFEST and possibly sharing with a friend of mine! Thing is… I need serious money. I have applied many places and can’t seem to snag a job. The only monetary help I’ve been receiving is from FRIENDS of my Dad, but not really any other help from family. That’s why it’s up to me to find a way to raise as much money as possible. I need to take commissions- and FAST ones that don’t require hours and hours of work. That’s gonna have to go towards PRINTS… Making prints and charms costs money as well, and then there’s gas for my car and… Life is gonna be hard for the next few months, but this has been a dream of mine. Any help from anyone, especially SIGNAL BOOSTING is huge for me. Working at the artist alley has always been a dream of mine, and now that it’s finally coming true, I’m really needing to crack down on earning money. HERE’S WHAT I’M OFFERING YOU:
MONOCHROMATIC LINES/SKETCHES: $5 A CHARACTER
These will probably be no more than mid-leg up, with a sketch, lines, and monochromatic or dulled out color palette with little to no shading. Can be of OCs, fan characters, or characters from any franchise! I’m allowing up to 3 characters a canvas.
FULL COLORED WAIST UP ARTWORK- $10 A CHARACTER
These are waist up commissions with full detail put into lines and shading and what-not. $10 per character, and up to 3 characters on a canvas. 300 dpi- OCs, fan characters- ANYTHING yo heart desires.

For complete orders over $15, when I have completed all of my prints for the convention, you will be able to choose TWO OF MY PRINTS (11x17 or 8.5x11 depending on the print) that will be mailed to you, though shipping costs will probably have to be split between us/ we can negotiate or work something out. so instead of doing what im supposed to i drew this to warm up (get it bc she’s fire LOL) and got a little to into it but i rly like mera and last night mags reminded me of voicing her when we did dramatic readings of aatr3 auditions and yea shes just really awesome and so is zaifon i hope its okay

Thanks so much for doing an art trade with me! …This is the first time I’ve ever had a background take longer to create than the actual character! Gosh, those STARS… I went with a “persona 4-golden” look with the background, and added my own spin, so lots of pop art and what-not. I hope you like it~ I know she’s supposed to be kinda shy and antisocial, but I thought I’d make her a little more outgoing because of the box on her head obscuring her vision and then it just became super OOC SOrry BUT i hope it’s still alright u__u
